Every day, PARTA provides trips to workers, seniors, individuals with disabilities, students, and others across Portage County who regularly rely on our transportation services. Our Dial-A-Ride service is available countywide for those individuals who are unable to utilize our fixed route system. This shared-ride service is available Monday-Friday from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Outlying areas are provided service on certain days of the week depending on the township. It is a critical service for hundreds of people who have no other access to medical appointments and the like.
PARTA also operates transportation service at Kent State University. PARTA services are free to all KSU students (with the exception of the Akron and Cleveland Express Routes – available for just $1 or $5) both on and off the campus with your FLASHcard.
The Kent Central Gateway Transit Center and Parking Garage is also operated by PARTA. This multimodal facility allows residents to bike, park or transfer via bus to any of the great attractions here in Portage County.
Portage County’s FIRST Compressed Natural Gas Fueling Station
We're driving toward a healthier tomorrow
with Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)
RNG began flowing to PARTA's Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station through a five year contract with Clean Energy in May of 2024. RNG is a transportation fuel made from organic waste. Unlike conventional natural gas, RNG is not a fossil fuel and does not involve drilling or fracking.
WHY FUEL WITH NATURAL GAS?
Domestically produced: 98% of the fuel used by PARTA is produced in the U.S.
Affordable: CNG/RNG fuel prices are consistently lower than diesel.
Widely available: An established distribution network ensures convenient access.
Fuel from natural gas benefits everyone! Cleaner & greener: Use of CNG reduces health-harming CO2 pollutants by 30% and lowers greenhouse gas emissions by over 70%.
YES! We are OPEN to the PUBLIC.
PARTA's CNG fueling station is located at 2000 Summit Road in Kent.
Business & government fleet vehicles welcomed - private cars too!
Price: $2.64 per GGE.
Hours of Operation:
Monday – Friday: 5 a.m. – 11 p.m.
